Weekday Preschool Program Dedicated to providing a center-based, developmental curriculum for preschoolers in a loving, Christian atmosphere
A Word From Our Director
Your child's development and safety is important to you, and we have made it a priority in our preschool. I invite you to visit our preschool to see the facilities and meet the staff.
I am very proud of our teaching staff. They are well experienced in working with the preschool child and have shown themselves to be creative and innovative in their teaching styles. You and your child may expect to be treated with care and concern.
As the director, I am always available to offer whatever assistance you may require. Should your child become enrolled in our program, it is my hope that you and your child will have an enjoyable and worthwhile year with us. Ann R. Marlow, Director
Enrollment
The program runs on a September-May schedule. Early admission for the next year is offered to FBC members and families of currently enrolled students. General admission to the public opens in February. Once general registration opens, all applications are accepted on a first-received basis.
Application forms must be accompanied by a non-refundable* $50 registration fee. Legal proof of birth must be presented for witness in the office when you return the application form. Families will be notified of acceptance in late March. If a child cannot be placed in a class, the applicant will be notified and offered waiting list status.
Every child is REQUIRED BY LAW to have a complete physical if he/she has not had one within one year of the beginning of school in September. The enclosed medical form must be signed by your physician and returned to the office prior to the beginning of school. You are responsible for making sure that your child has had the required immunizations. In accordance with state regulations, a child will not be admitted to class unless this form is on file.
Curriculum
During the year, units are introduced as appropriate for each class and may include themes about our homes, our families, our communities, animals, people of the world, and many more.
Learning occurs through free play in centers, small and large group experiences, songs, stories, large muscle activities, caring for our rooms, and socialization with others. Morning schedules may vary from class-to-class, but each will include these elements.
Our program uses, as a basis, the age-appropriate Church Weekday Early Education Wee Learn Curriculum Guides. A special emphasis of this program is on the child and God. Areas of content include:
-
God loves us and gives us our families
-
God is wise, real, and important
-
God wants our love and wants us to do right
-
God wants us to talk with Him and to think about Him
-
God loves all people
-
God will always help us
-
God has created our beautiful world

The Fredericksburg Baptist Church Preschool exists as a ministry of Fredericksburg Baptist Church. FBC Preschool does not discriminate on the basis of color, creed, race, or national origin in any of its policies.
In compliance with the Code of Virginia, this Center is exempt from licensure and is classified as a "religiously exempt" child day center.
The director, Ann Marlow, holds a Bachelor's Degree in Biology in conjunction with an Early Childhood Education Certification and has nine years experience as an elementary school teacher. All classroom teachers have a high school diploma, G.E.D., or college degree and at least one year of programmatic experience in a child care setting, nursery school, or elementary school, or a Child Development Associate Credential.
The staff is certified annually by a practicing physician to verify that they are free from any disability, which would prevent them from caring for children.
Seven classrooms within the church are designated for preschool use. The classrooms provide 48 sq. ft. of activity space per child for classes of 2-year-olds, and 30 sq. ft. per child for our classes of 3- and 4-year-olds. These exceed the recommended space of 25 sq. ft.
The Preschool does not provide food service. All children bring a snack from home. |
